New leadership training begins

LATCOM and EPLABOL have begun two new leadership training programs:
The National School of Leadership has over 40 key Santa Cruz city leaders signed up for a new program titled Transcendent Leadership. This 200 hour program is designed to form leaders of integrity and character for the future of Bolivia. Until we can afford a new facility, we have torn out walls and moved offices within our existing administrative building in order to create six classrooms. At current growth rates, we will need a new building for this program within a year.

In partnership with Character Solutions International, we began a unique program on August 12th in La Guardia, a city of 25,000 people. The mayor and town council had invited us to help them become the first “city of character” in Bolivia. We have begun training all city officials and the directors of the public schools in character-based principles and education. By the end of this month, all school teachers will have been trained in the use of educational materials developed by Character Solutions International that in turn will be taught to first through fifth graders in the public schools. When the mayor’s office of the city of Santa Cruz (1.3 million inhabitants) heard what we were doing in La Guardia, they begged us to begin a similar program with them. And then the Sub-Prefect of the province of Caballero asked us to consider her province for the pilot program if the city of La Guardia decided not to go forward. Unfortunately we still do not have the funding or personnel in place to answer this need. But we are confident that in God’s timing this will happen. We have begun this pilot program in La Guardia with the intent to present it at the national level.
Although these programs are stretching our manpower, space, and resources, we feel blessed by the Lord for being chosen to bring His Good News to the leaders of this struggling nation.•
