Fix it!
Tim Ramsey, Executive Director
Coffee was just starting to burn a hole through my early morning mental fog when a loud “bang” echoed from the living room. My daughter, wife, and I instantly woke-up. The echo had hardly diminished when it was replaced by a loud wail. In the next second my three-year-old grand-daughter Emilie ran into the kitchen, tears streaming down her cheeks, and a face that said it all....
Clutched in her tight little fist was a blue ribbon attached to the tattered remains of a bright yellow balloon; a balloon that a moment before she had been joyfully bouncing around the living room.
“It broke!” she sobbed.
Shoving the dangling fragments toward us, she begged, “Fix it? Please fix it.”
My wife, daughter, and I burst into laughter. Carefully we laid the tattered remains of the balloon on the kitchen table and tried to explain to little Emilie how impossible it was to fix.

Repairing Broken Lives
This past weekend seventy-five young people gathered at Monte Blanco for four days of adventure camp. During the days they ran up mountains, climbed through obstacles, jumped over walls, crawled through mud, swung over the river, and performed numerous other feats that separate youth from the rest of us. In the evening hours the real challenge began. These were the moments when God reached down for the miraculous task of re-assembling the tattered remains of shattered youth.
There is no way to explain how He can do the impossible. How can He reach down through time and space and, in an instant, fix what no human can possibly do? We hold out the fragments of our lives to God and in desperation ask him to, “Fix it!” And, He does!
At Monte Blanco this past weekend, His miracle of salvation instantly transformed nine lives. And on the last night of camp forty more young people came forward to recommit themselves to follow Jesus. Here are some comments from the campers:
“I have changed tremendously, and I thoroughly enjoyed hearing the Word of God. We have all been changed spiritually."
“We were all drawn closer to our Creator God. I have been separated from Him for many months, and now have been reconciled to Him.”
“It was a wonderful camp. The atmosphere, the environment, the quality of care, the themes that drew us to reflection, all were very constructive."
“It was an unforgettable experience. It was supernatural. When someone comes to Monte Blanco, they should be expecting the best. ”
Pablo Morales, the executive director of Monte Blanco, mentioned that the positive feedback from this camp is prompting us to schedule another one before the end of the year in which we fully expect to have 150 youth in attendance.
This is why Monte Blanco is so important. It is a tool, in the hands of skilled national workers, that transforms lives and builds within them eternal foundations.
We’re excited about this place!
Those who have visited Monte Blanco are drawn to return–their lives changed–pulled by the peace, the beauty, and an overwhelming sense of the presence of God. It is a place to meditate, to reflect and to yield to the Lord of Creation. Perhaps this is true because of fifty-two years of sacrificial giving and prayers by missionaries and their supporters. We are privileged to take over this rich heritage, to carry forth the vision, and to use it as a place to transform lives and ultimately a nation.
God has blessed us with a great staff of Bolivian Christians, called by Him, that have experience and maturity. And we are grateful that we have been able to send New Tribes Mission $40,000 of the $100,000 payment due on June 10, 2005.
We need an additional $60,000. Just recently we were offered a matching fund of $25,000. For each dollar you send in, we will receive an additional dollar.
Praise the Lord for the lives that are being transformed at Monte Blanco! Thank you for your support! God is at work, and you and I get to be part of His great “Fix It” plan.•
