In just six years of ministry in Bolivia, Monte Blanco has become known as the best Christian Camp in the nation and one of the top in Latin America. More than 25,000 youth have been to our Monte Blanco facility. By the end of June, we estimate that at least 3,200 campers will have visited Monte Blanco 2010.
Monte Blanco fills a great need in Latin America — now as well as for the future.
School students – tomorrow’s leaders
Although 10% of the students entering the secular universities of Bolivia are evangelical, less than 2% emerge as committed Christians. The Gospel is seen as irrelevant to an educated, professional life. Monte Blanco provides a setting where Christian principles can be taught to high school and university students, thus providing them with biblical foundations that will result in a life of devotion and service.
Children – the future of the nation
About 40% of the population of Bolivia is under the age of 14. Monte Blanco is and will be a place where profound changes can take place in the lives of youth and children. We provide excellent programs and build on the principles that we are teaching them in the public schools.
Leaders of today
The peer pressure on Christians to conform to their environments is relentless. Through our seminars, we have reached thousands of political, military, and business leaders. Monte Blanco will provide a place where these key leaders can be spiritually fed through retreats, seminars, and marriage conferences. Monte Blanco will also be a place where evangelism can follow up the ethical and principal based leadership training that we are doing with Bolivia’s military and police officers. Unlike the USA, there are few places where Christian leaders can go to be spiritually refreshed.
The camp and staff: outstanding
Monte Blanco has a dedicated and highly regarded staff of Bolivians who design and run excellent and original programs to meet the needs of campers. Our staff has been invited to train youth leaders and camp directors in Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, and Peru.
Hundreds of volunteers, many of whom were former campers, make the bus ride from Santa Cruz to be a huge help to the staff.
A four- to six-hour drive from the city of Santa Cruz, Bolivia, Monte Blanco rests in the Tambo Valley, on the grounds of a former boarding school. Its 220 acres has the capacity for 300 campers, with plenty of classrooms and dormitories and also family cabins. Campers enjoy the soccer field, basketball and volleyball courts, and a waterslide. The recently expanded auditorium now seats 300.•
